Thanks to Fabio for sending in word on this one. The Colonel and the Werewolf looks to be a period piece - think South American cowboys with impressive beards - played for very broad comedy. Production values and cinematography both look impressive, though I don't know how well the humor will translate ... here's what Fabio's got to say about it:
"Based in the book homonym of Jose Cândido de Carvalho, the Colonel and the Werewolf it is the history of Ponciano de Azeredo Furtado (Diogo Vilela), colonel of patent and farmer for inheritance right, that fights against Pernambuco Nogueira (Selton Mello), its brother of creation, to keep lands of the Sobradinho Farm and to conquer the heart of loved Esmeraldina cousin (Ana Paula Arósio). To win this battle, that he himself account, Ponciano faces enormous beasts, tries the bohemian life in the city, combat thieves, gets passionate anxious maidens and, finally, uses all its cunning to disenchant hauntings."
