A Flurry of Thai Film Sites and Trailers

Ah, Thailand, the emerging film culture in Asia. The Thai industry is still fairly small but it has already produced some major art house hits and now is becoming recognized as one of the key sources of genre fare world wide ... The Gomorrahizer - a regular reader around these parts just sent me links to a batch of Thai film sites worth noting, some with trailers some without, and I've dug up a couple more on my own for good measure ...

Lizard Woman. The site isn't fully functional yet and there isn't a trailer, but you can turn up some production stills over on the production company's site if you click around a bit - sorry, it's flash based, so no direct links - and it looks as though it should be some trashy genre fun.

Hit Man File. Nice site, too bad about the trash quality Flash formatted trailer ... stop doing that people, the reason it saves you so much bandwidth is that it looks like ass. Again, the production stills look very nice and I'll be keeping my eyes open for a decent format trailer.

Ghost of Mae Nak. Hey! That girl's got a big ol' hole in her head! Nothing on the site yet, but there's a stack of production stills here. Note the amusing 'Not For Release' watermark on those ... who puts 30+ still shots of their film on a website if they don't want them to be seen?

Necromancer. I'd heard some talk about this film elsewhere but never bothered to look it up until I was sent the link ... DEFINITELY the cream of The Gomorrahizer's crop. Definitely low budget but legitimately creepy, disturbing stuff and there are things in this trailer that they probably wouldn't be allowed to include in the finished film anywhere else. If the film lives up to the trailer this one could well end up being a cult classic. The link above gives you the english site, this one gives you the Thai.

Andaman Girl. A mistaken identity gangster porn comedy. It's about a once acclaimed, now disgraced film maker forced to shoot a porn flick to pay the bills who hires a girl for the lead who he believes was coming to audition for the role but was actually on the run from the marriage being forced upon her by her gangster father. Don't know that it'll live up to the premise, but the trailer did make me laugh out loud a couple times ...

Bangkok Loco. I spotted the just-released DVD of this over at Ethai a couple days ago and just came across the site now. The story's about an aspiring drummer prepping for a major contest when framed for a bloody murder and pursued by inept police agents. It's loud, garish, got style to burn and the trailer made me laugh very, very hard. This one better live up to the trailer, 'cause I've got it on order now ... Trailer here and four music videos here, here, here, and here. Check out the uvula-cam in trailer two ...

SARS War. Yeah, we've linked to it before. It just makes me laugh. How zombies and men with swords have anything to do with respiratory disease is beyond me but I really want to see this. Trash, yes, but it looks like fun trash. And it's apparently pretty good ... it was the closing film at the just wrapped Bangkok International Film Festival and they had a lot of good stuff there to choose from ...
