Chaos still reigns as LVT moves on to disaster pic 'Planet Melanchonia'
Well, there was no denying the influence a single screening of Lars von Trier's Antichrist had on the crowd at Fantastic Fest this year. 'Chaos Reigns' quickly became our alter call; so quick it would have made Tony Burgess blush. T-shirts were made and Crow and Fox made a guest appearance at the closing night film. Don't put away those t-shirts just yet guys and gals cause it looks like everyone's favorite ray of sunshine will be at it again, this time taking on the disaster film subgenre.
"No more happy endings!" was von Trier's only comment, a description that would fit all of his work. Jensen has promised a mix of spectacular, cinematic imagery with Dogme-style handheld camerawork -- a combination seen in "Antichrist." Referring to a cringe-inducing scene in that film, Jensen, however, said he hoped no g######s would be cut off in "Planet Melancholia." Instead, Jensen said the new film would be "romantic, in a Lord Byron sort of way." THR
Title refers to Planet Melancholia, an enormous planet illustrated on the press release that looms threateningly close to Earth. Variety
Target release is Cannes 2011. Hello Fantastic Fest 2011!
