Were there any lingering doubts that Scientology founder L Ron Hubbard was a primary inspiration for Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master those doubts are completely eradicated with the arrival of the full theatrical trailer for the film.
Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Amy Adams star in the story of a shell shocked war vet taken in by a writer and scientist who concocts his own religion as a sort of self-help project for his protege.
In many ways Anderson should be quite thankful to his Magnolia star Tom Cruise and his family issues right now as those have given the Church of Scientology something bigger to worry about than Anderson's movie for the time being. But, still, it's going to be interesting to see how the PR war is waged around this. And, judging by the trailer, more interesting still to actually see the film. Check it below.
