Bang! Bangbang! Bangbangbangbangbangbangbangbangbang!

Cue building falling down.

Smash window.

There you go, that's a summary of the brand new trailer for Ringo Lam's upcoming Daniel Wu starring action thriller Sky On Fire in which there apprently weren't enough things up high to burn and so they decided to shoot a lot of shit instead.

Lam's 'On Fire' movies are classics of Hong Kong cinema and hugely influential around the world and while Lam, like may old guard directors, seems to be struggling a bit with how to best employ modern technology and techniques his signature style is still on full display here. Check it out below.

Okay. It's trailer on fire.

Pasta_BearNovember 4, 2016 10:40 AM

I haven't been into most modern Hong Kong cinema, but this just might be worth a look.

Andrew S MackNovember 4, 2016 11:23 AM

Huh. That works.

I'm in.

Jesus. NICE trailer. Ringo ain't playin'! Good to see Daniel Wu's Mandarin isn't dubbed. If I remember correctly, he was dubbed in the last trailer.

ToryKNovember 4, 2016 11:50 AM

It's Ringo. He knows what he's doing. I've always been more of a Woo fan, but I've honestly got more faith in Ringo Lam delivering at this point.

Pasta_BearNovember 4, 2016 1:07 PM

True. Woo has lost his original spark completely.

Count me in.

I wouldn't say completely. He's currently doing MANHUNT and is prepping another action movie with former collaborator Tsui Hark. Every filmmaker and performer eventually moves on trying out different things at some point in their careers.

CGI (a continuing plague in today's action movies) puts me off somewhat. Otherwise, this has got my fullest attention.

Pasta_BearNovember 4, 2016 11:19 PM

I hope you're right. I like your optimism.

Looks good!

I'll be having that the moment it hits on blu. Looks fantastic.
