DEATH NOTE: LIGHT UP THE NEW WORLD Delivers A New Trailer

It's a busy time for fans of popular anime and manga series Death Note. Here in North America, director Adam Wingard is currently in production on an English language, live action adaptation of the property while over in Japan the PR machine is rumbling to life for Sato Shinsuke's latest live action entry for local markets there, Death Note: Light Up The New World.

Set ten years following the events of the previous Death Note films, Sato's picture launches with the discovery of six death notes - note books with a dark supernatural power that leads to the death of anyone whose name is written within its pages - and the general chaos that ensues.

Sato is a strong choice as director here, the Princess Blade helmer on a strong recent run from the Gantz and Library Wars films to last year's zombie hit I Am A Hero, and while the freshly arrived trailer is a weirdly edited piece of work the footage on display is certainly intriguing. Check it out below and let us know what you think. Would love to hear from some long time fans on how this fits into their hopes and the overall story arcs!
