ANN MARIYA KALIPPILAANU Trailer Promises to Rain Goondas

Many of us have been wondering what writer/director Midhun Manuel Thomas would do to follow his debut film, the social comedy Aadu: Oru Bheegara Jeeviyanu ("Goat: A Dangerous Creature"), and with today's trailer release, the wait is finally over.

Ann Mariya Kalippilaanu stars the talented young actress Sara Arjun, who won a Vijay award for Best Child Artist for the Tamil film Saivam, where she acted alongside veteran actor Nassar -- more recently she's been seen in the Hindi film Jazbaa playing Aishwarya Rai's daughter.   Aju Varghese and Sunny Wayne were both seen in Aadu, but here they take centre stage as two of Ann Maria's goondas (hired thugs).  The special appearance hinted at in the trailer is probably the internet's worst kept secret at the moment -- I won't reveal who it is here, but will only say that if Sunny Wayne is in the film, you might be able to guess which of his previous co-stars is turning up.

Cinematographer Vishnu Sharma of last year's family comedy drama Salt Mango Tree helms the camera, and veteran music director Shaan Rahman (who provided the music for all of Vineeth Sreenivasan's films -- Malavardi Arts Club, Thattathin Marayathu, Thira, and this year's Jacobinte Swargarajyam)  returns to work with Thomas after their outing with Aadu.

Ann Mariya Kalippilaanu releases in Kerala on August 5th.
