You can never quite be sure what you're going to get from a Yuthlert Sippapak film - the fiercely talented and independently minded director constantly bouncing off in new directions from project to project and, indeed, often within the same project. And so it is that two trailers in to the ad campaign for his upcoming Buppha Ratree: Haunting In Japan I have only the faintest idea what is coming with the latest installment of his most popular creation.

Sippapak's horror comedy franchise took the world stage when the first blood soaked installment premiered in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto International Film Festival and while all have been some sort of horror-comedy hybrid the variation from film to film has been dramatic. the first teaser for this latest effort promised something playing very much up to local slapstick comedy styles but that first teaser has now been followed by something very different, still comedy but much more sly and restrained with a very much darker overall tone to it. Whatever it ends up being, it certainly won't be boring. Check it out below.
