Watch Romain Quirot's Impressive THE LAST JOURNEY OF THE ENIGMATIC PAUL W.R.
Of all the multitude of genres and sub genres out there retro-futurism is, to my mind, one of the absolute hardest to get right. Always at risk of sliding into kitsch and too-cute design schemes the retro bit and the future bit seldom fit smoothly together but when things work it's easy to see why the sub genre is such a favorite among fans. And things very, very much fit together in Romain Quirot's impressive short film The Last Journey Of The Enigmatic Paul W.R.

Boasting fabulous production values the most impressive thing here are not the effects - though those are very good - but how grimy and lived in everything feels. Quirot is bringing a fully realized world to life here, one where people are on the edge of giving up hope and things are on the verge of popping at the seams and sliding into disrepair. When a purely fictitious world feels as true to life as this one does you know you've got something. Check it out below
