Watch The Trailer For Sunny King's PREY
There's a cinematic revolution coming in Africa. That's been clear for a while ... Nigeria is the third most prolific film producing nation in the world and the sheer population numbers of sub-Saharan Africa truly make it a question of when and not if the wave of talent will crest. And, really, there are already quite a number of directors hard at work - many for quite some time - out of view of the rest of the world. There is a small but growing arthouse community, generally supported by various international arts funds. There are the locally oriented directors in localized industries such as Nollywood, turning out material fast and cheap and dominantly for distribution on DVD to local audiences. And then there's the third category - and this is the one that really needs to grow for the rest of the world to take notice - of young talents striving to tell local stories within established international styles and up to international technical standards.

Based on the trailer for short film Prey, Sunny King appears to be very much in the third category.

A recent selection at Screamfest, the British Urban Film Festival, and the Africa International Film Festival in Lagos, Prey is a film that comes out of Nigeria but looks as though it could be equally comfortable pretty much anywhere in the world. Take a look at the teaser below.
