Demonic Possession, Peruvian Style In Second Trailer For NO ESTAMOS SOLOS
Back in July, a brief teaser was released for No Estamos Solos, a new Peruvian horror movie which looked very much like a haunted house/ghost story. Now, a second trailer is available and as it turns out, there was more to that first impression.

Actors Marco Zunino (making his big screen leading man debut after stints in theatre and TV) and Fiorella Díaz play Mateo and Mónica, a married couple who move into their new home with 8 year-old daughter Sofía. Almost inmediately, they become the targets of a supernatural presence which needs to be exorcized; enter a priest played by the prolific Lucho Cáceres, making this not a movie about ghosts but about demonic possession.

Judging from the trailer, director Daniel Rodríguez Risco - making a stab at a full-on horror movie after psychological thriller El Vientre ("The Womb") - is clearly going for an Exorcist vibe, with Cáceres taking on the Father Merrin part. It also looks like he's avoiding the "child in peril" trope so common in horror movies; here, it seems Mom takes the brunt of the horrific happenings.

It's not typical subject matter for Peruvian movies, and with Rodríguez's obvious skills behind the camera, here's hoping it delivers.

This is the first release from Miedo Entertainment, a production company specializing in genre films that's planning to release one or two of them each year.

Originally set for an October release, the movie will now hit Peruvian theatres on 14 January 2016.
