Crowdfund This! Steve Kostanski And Jeremy Gillespie Enter THE VOID!
Oh, get your credit cards all warmed up kids, because special effects wunderkind Steve Kostanksi and his Astron-6 cohort Jeremy Gillespie - the creative team behind Manborg and BioCop and the W Is For Wish segment of The ABCs of Death 2 - are at it again and stepping up their game BIG TIME with The Void.

In the middle of a routine patrol, officer Daniel Carter happens upon a blood-soaked figure limping down a deserted stretch of road. He rushes the young man to a nearby rural hospital staffed by a skeleton crew, only to discover that patients and personnel are transforming into something inhuman. As the horror intensifies, Carter leads the other survivors on a hellish voyage into the subterranean depths of the hospital in a desperate bid to end the nightmare before it's too late.
As insanely talented as all the members of the Astron-6 crew are there's a certain sense thus far that all of their output has been, to varying degrees, a big gag. An exercise in nodding and winking to the things they love. Which makes a whole lot of sense given that they began by creating trailers for straight to video classics from the late eighties and early nineties that don't actually exist. But The Void is where that changes with Kostanski and Gillespie tell a fully fleshed story that, while still carrying the aesthetic of the era they love, is totally their own. Yeah. I've had the opportunity to read this and speak to both Kostanski and Gillespie about it in person and I'm fully confident that this is where shit gets real for these guys ... this is the line where they stop being talented kids playing around (though I sincerely hope that they never lose the playful spirit) and establish themselves as legitimate visionaries in their own right.

But enough of the raving ... yes, as stated in the headline The Void team has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help bring the project together. Currently slated for a summer shoot they're hoping to give Kostanski a few months lead in time on building the practical creature effects - of which there are LOTS - and are raising funds to reach that end. Want a taste of what's coming? Check out the pitch video below, which includes an original proof of concept trailer shot by the duo with a skeleton crew for virtually no money. Once you scrape your jaw off the floor from that imagine what they could do with some actual resources behind them.
