Play The JOKER GAME With Teaser For Japanese War Thriller

Japanese indie darling Irie Yu steps into the big leagues with Joker Game, an adaptation of Yanaji Kogi's novel set in an alternate version of World War II. Kamenashi Kazuya plays a rogue soldier forcibly recruited into the Japanese spy agency whose first task is to steal confidential documents from the American ambassador.

Irie's work has never lacked in style or energy, meaning the major question here is how his distinct personality will survive the transition from his low budget indie work to this big studio backed period action piece and the first teaser, at least, bodes pretty well. The action has some pop, the visuals are strong, and it just generally sells itself as the big mainstream entertainment it is meant to be. Take a look below.
