Kitano Pits Old School Versus New In First RYUZO 7 Teaser!

After spending the past few years in the ultra violent world of his Outrage films iconic writer-director-performer Kitano Takeshi is looking to put a more comedic spin on yakuza culture with his latest, the upcoming Ryuzo 7 (Ryuzo to Shichinin no Kobuntachi, literally Ryuzo And The Seven Henchmen).

Fuji Tatsuya stars as the titular Ryuzo, a retired yakuza gangster now living a quiet life. But when he becomes the victim of a phishing scam he gets the old gang back together to exact geriatric vengeance.

The cast here is absolutely loaded with familiar faces and the cross generational humor looks to be pretty clever. And, hey ... it's Kitano. Even when his stuff doesn't completely work, it's always interesting. Check out the first teaser below.
