The Many Faces Of Keanu Reeves

Whoa! John Wick is hitting its theatrical release this week, and as Peter Martin says in his review (click), it's surprisingly good by virtue of not being bad. Part of the film's success is due to the starring role of Keanu Reeves, who seems incredibly well-placed in it.

Reeves is a strange actor, and very much prone to be miscast when taking roles outside of his comfort zone. But he is easier to dis than to dislike, and over the years he has been good in too many movies to just, well, "suck". For every bad role I can easily think of a good one too, and when used well I really enjoy seeing him.

So once again I'm going to use twelve close-ups of a thespian I don't automatically hate, to make a quiz. Click through the images and guess which twelve movies they're from. No competition, no prizes, just for fun. Try to see how far you get without using IMDb.

I'll post the answers next Thursday (or earlier if someone gets all twelve of them right).

And here he is as the titular John Wick, the man who makes a candle flame. Ehm... I mean the man with a short fuse? That's not exactly right either. Aw, forget it. He is an ex-assassin with an ex-dog, and, sooner rather than later, ex-enemies!

This shot doesn't count yet as part of the quiz, but all the other ones do. So flick through the gallery and have a go!

You've got 4, 8, 11 and 12 right. Number 10 is B&T though not Bogus Journey, alas, but 11 is indeed Revolutions!

Ard VijnOctober 24, 2014 5:43 PM

Well spotted, as he pulls that face in both. It is indeed Devil's Advocate.

Ard VijnOctober 24, 2014 5:47 PM

You've got 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12 correct, and number 2 as well though I do want the title.

So the only ones left over as unrecognized are 2 and 3!

dustin changOctober 24, 2014 7:59 PM

Your exclusion of Point Break- the finest action movie ever made, makes this list meaningless. HOW DARE YOU!?

2. Chain Reaction
3. Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey
