TRUE DETECTIVE: Colin Farrell And Vince Vaughan Confirmed For Season 2
With the unprecedented success of Season 1 of HBO's True Detective, it has become one of those shows on everyone's radar.

It has also gone through a tremendous run of casting rumors since the second series was confirmed and yesterday Variety reported two confirmed roles. Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughan have both bagged coveted spots in the second series.

Story will revolve around three cops and a career criminal who navigate a web of conspiracy after a murder.

Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.

Vaughn is set as Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.

Series creator Nic Pizzolatto is penning all eight episodes of the second series. Justin Lin, who solidified his fame with his Fast and Furious films, will direct the first two episodes.

There are no more additional casting announcements yet, so there is still time to debate, assume, and theorize who will take up what roles. There is an expectation that there is still a police officer role to be filled by a female lead.
