Yubari 2014: THE PINKIE Takes Grand Prix In Fantastic Off Theater Competition
The Winners of the Fantastic Off Theater Competition at this year's Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival were announced Sunday night, with Lisa Takeba's The Pinkie awarded the Grand Prix by the jury made up of Saito Takumi, Thomas Nam, Tom Mes and headed by Kichitaro Nagishi.

Gun Woman, directed by Mitsutake Kurando, won the Special Jury Prize, while its star, Iguchi regular Asami was given a special mention for giving the stand-out performance of the competition, as the titular blood-splattered heroine.

The Hokkaido Governor's Prize, also awarded by the jury, went to Ueda Atsushi's School Girls' Gestation, while the critics' Cinegar Award was also given to The Pinkie. The Sky Perfect Movie Channel Award went to Wang Cheol-min's Old Men Never Die from South Korea.

The Grand Prix includes a US$20,000 cash prize, which traditionally goes towards the production budget of the director's next feature, to receive its world premiere at the festival the following year.

In the Short Film Competition, two prizes of equal importance were awarded to films for their "excellence in art": César Esteban Alenda & José Esteban Alenda Inertial Love (Spain) and Kurogi Tomoki's Cycloid. The Artistic Contribution award went to Kabuki Sawako's Anal Juice, the Special Jury Prize to Kato Maya's Anemia, while the Grand Prix was awarded to Hori Takahide's Junk Head 1.
