Sono Sion Set To Direct Live-Action Adaptation Of Adult Manga SHINJUKU SWAN
Great news for all Sono Sion fans out there! The maverick filmmaker will make a return in 2015 with Shinjuku Swan, a live-action adaptation of Wakui Ken's popular Kabukichō-set adult manga. Anime News Network reports that the main cast will include Go Ayano (Rurouni Kenshin, Gatchaman), Sawajiri Erika (Ghost Train, Helter Skelter), Yamada Takayuki (Ikigami, Crows Zero), and Iseya Yusuke (Casshern, Sukiyaki Western Django). The plot revolves around a jobless youngster who one day gets thrown into Tokyo's dangerous and unpredictable underground world of entertainment:

Shiratori Tatsuhiko works as a scout for Burst, a talent agency in Kabukichō, Shinjuku's red light district. In a business where money means everything Tatsuhiko finds himself in a constant struggle between rival talent scouts and the yakuza.

Production of the hotly anticipated feature will commence as early as next month. The theatrical release is scheduled for spring 2015.

For those of you who don't know, Sono's another upcoming film Tokyo Tribes, based on a violent youth crime manga, is currently in the post-production phase and is set to be released in Japan during summer 2014.
