Make My Horror Movie: DEATHGASM Wins Through The Power Of Metal
After whittling down over four hundred entrants to just twelve a winner has been chosen for this year's Make My Horror Movie competition down in New Zealand. The splatter horror/black comedy Deathgasm, a film about "two heavy metal-thrashing losers who have to find their inner strength to stop a malevolent force which they inadvertently unleashed", is the winner.

Deathgasm, by Weta Digital's Jason Lei Howden, beat out five other entries in the finals to take out the $200,000 prize. Shooting will begin in eight-10 weeks and the movie will be finished by the end of the year.

Producer Andrew Beattie, who will oversee the project said,

"It's truly original, it knows its genre back-to-front, and, most of all, it's genuinely fun to read. This is a hugely ambitious project but one that excites the hell out me." He continued, "I'm really looking forward to working with Jason and Sarah to pull this splat-fest off. It's going to get messy."

And from the Deathgasm Make My Horror Movie pitch page we find,

DEATHGASM will be a throwback to the low-budget splatter films of the 80s, which achieved entertaining and hilarious special effects on micro budgets. It will combine socially awkward humour with gut-wrenching lo-fi practical gore effects, while revitalising the long-stagnant Heavy Metal horror genre with a brutal soundtrack including some amazing Metal and Hard Rock tracks. We will make sure that DEATHGASM has an OST that will be the bane of noise control officers the world over.

That sounds damned brutal to us! Bring it!
