KILLERS: Check The Bloody, Japanese Red Band Teaser For The Mo Brothers' Sundance Selected Thriller
Imagine, if you will, that Sono Sion had packed up and headed to Korea to create an intense and bloody psychological thriller. That fusion of influences is what drives Killers, the sophomore effort by Indonesian directing duo The Mo Brothers (Macabre). The story of two men drawn to violence who discover one another on the internet, Killers will soon make its debut at Sundance and in the lead up to its premiere the Japanese backers - Nikkatsu - have released a bloody new trailer. Here's how Sundance describes the film:

Mr. Nomura is an eerily handsome, sharply dressed, sociopathic serial killer who preys on the women of Tokyo. In Jakarta, a world-weary journalist named Bayu finds himself unexpectedly falling into vigilantism after brutally killing two sadistic robbers. When each posts videos of their violent sprees online, the pair find one another on the Internet and begin a toxic and competitive duel. While Bayu clings to the hope that he can resume a normal life, Nomura continues to spill blood without remorse. Killing, advises Nomura, is something everyone ought to consider.
This new teaser focuses heavily on the Nomura character, goes very much (in typical Japanese style) for the gusto, and would definitely be of the red band variety had it been rated by the MPAA. Check out the new teaser below while also casting eyes on the new Sundance poster above and to the left.

It's good to see that Kitamura-san is still appearing in such a great films. As of this moment my expectations are high.

After the ABCs of Death segment and the Safe haven segment in VHS2, I will see pretty much anything and everything the Mo Brothers do. I still gotta check out Macabre. This looks great... I can only hope they continue to make more crime movies.

I hated Macabre. I don't think it gives any indication of the twisted originality of L is for Libido which I thought was the best short of ABCs of Death. Thanks for the tip about Safe Haven. I'll have to check that out. Still looking forward to Killers.
