Watch The Red Band Trailer For Kitano's BEYOND OUTRAGE
Kitano Takeshi's latest gangster opus, Beyond Outrage, hits US VOD November 28th prior to a January 3rd limited theatrical run and distributor MAgnolia Pictures have released a new red band trailer for the film.

With BEYOND OUTRAGE, action cinema master Takeshi Kitano returns to the hard boiled characters, black comedy and unflinching violence of his crime masterpiece OUTRAGE. This time, a manipulative police crackdown on organized crime has ignited a tricky power struggle in the yakuza underworld.

The Sanno crime family has grown into a massive organization dominated by young executives whose new approach to running the family is causing frustration and pent-up resentment with the old-guard members. This vulnerability in the Sanno hierarchy is exactly what anti-gang detective Kataoka has been looking for, as the police force prepares a full-scale crackdown.

Kataoka wants start a war between Sanno and the neighboring Hanabishi crime family in the hopes that they destroy each other. His trump card is Otomo (Kitano) - the rumored-dead boss of a defunct family that was destroyed by the Sanno, who has just been released from prison. Otomo wants to retire from a life of crime, but finds himself drawn back in through Kataoka's manipulations as the Sanno and Hanabishi clans teeter on the brink of an all-out war.
Take a look below and let us know how you feel this compares to earlier Kitano classics.

Hang on. So this is actually OUTRAGE BEYOND with the title flip flopped?

Heh. Yeah, and somehow it didn't even register that they'd done it while I was posting it ... I'll wager much better placement in VOD systems is to thank for that.

Roger that. Well, glad to see it getting a legit US release.

Strange little title change, But I loved the movie and the original Outrage.
Maybe there is some hope for a third flick, making it a modern yakuza Kitano trilogy.

The first one was good, i hope this will be better??

It's very good, but it is more of the same. Thankfully the original was good, so I'm not too bothered.

That's silly, though I understand the business reasons behind it.

Given how utterly crap VOD browsing systems currently are, it makes a ton of sense to do it. When you see the play numbers sorted alphabetically it's really, really dramatic. Nobody spends the time to scroll down beyond the first few letters. In my opinion VOD interface is one of the biggest issues currently facing film distribution ... they gotta fix it.
