Toronto After Dark Announces New Venue For 2013
This October the Toronto After Dark Film Festival will have a new venue partner. This year's edition of the genre film festival will take place at the Scotiabank Theatre deeper into the cold, cold heart or our fair city. Yep, Toronto After Dark is partnering with Cineplex Entertainment.

"I'm a huge fan of Cineplex's Sinister Cinema program," states Toronto After Dark's Festival Director and Founder Adam Lopez. "Since its launch, Sinister Cinema has enabled fans to see a fantastic slew of cutting-edge independent genre movies, including an official Toronto After Dark selection, on the Big Screen in theatres right across the country. The participating filmmakers and fans I've spoken to have been ecstatic with the results. And it feels like a natural fit now for our film event - which has always been about championing these kinds of thrilling independent films to the largest audience we can - to embrace a partner that equally gets it. This partnership is not just a Win-Win but a Quadruple Win for the fans, the filmmakers, the venue and our festival!"

I will miss the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema. Despite its new coorporate-ish badge the renovations were nice- with exception to those last few rows on the main floor where you couldn't see the top of the screen- and it still had that homey feel to it. Now. Make way for the glitz and glam. But, I will not miss the boutique grade snacks (where is the closest dollar store now?) and willingly dance around the newfangled Coke machines every night. We will miss the balcony but say hello to stadium seating. And perhaps filmmakers will be able to see the crowd now during Q&As.

The festival also announced today a decrease in ticket pricing and you will get SCENE points with any ticket purchase now. If you buy tickets for all 20 movies individually you'd have two free movie tickets to enjoy after the festival. Huzzah to that I say.
