Long-rumoured to be joining the star-studded action franchise, Australian wild man Mel Gibson appears to have been confirmed as the main villain in next year's The Expendables 3
. Sylvester Stallone, the series' star and creator, left a not-very-cryptic message on Twitter, referencing his own character and one made famous by the antipodean star:
Gibson will join Expendables regulars Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Jet Li, as well as returning member Mickey Rourke (together quite possibly with cameos from Bruce Willis and/or Arnold Schwarzenegger) and newcomers Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan, Wesley Snipes and Milla Jovovich, in what is shaping up to be the best line-up the franchise has seen so far. There are also rumours that Steven Seagal might also make an appearance. The Expendables 3 is being directed by Red Hill helmer Patrick Hughes, and is due to arrive on screens in August 2014.
