The Epic Adventure Continues With The First Poster For THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG
This breathtaking poster surely comes as a real treat for all the die-hard The Hobbit fans who are anxiously waiting for the arrival of the first trailer for Peter Jackson's The Desolation of Smaug - set to hit the web on Tuesday, June 11th.

"I do believe the worst is behind us" said Bilbo Baggins in the last scene of The Unexpected Journey. He couldn't be more wrong. It seems the poster stands as a sort of prediction of the epic battle that's about to ensue, showing the titular character, played by Martin Freeman, looking at what appears to be the infamous Lonely Mountain, the lair of the mythical dragon Smaug. The sharp contrast between the figure and the mountain arising in the distance clearly intensifies the overall ambiance of the picture. For those who didn't read the book and still remember the ending of The Unexpected Journey, the fact that the courageous hobbit faces the grave, unknown danger on his own might be a bit enigmatic, though still very inviting.

Though the first installment in the series caused many discussions (mainly about its unusually high frame rate and the unnecessary decision to cut Tolkien's story into three parts) and got rather mixed reviews, I'm sure as hell people all over the world will passionately storm to cinemas to watch the continuation of one of the greatest and most compelling adventures known to modern man.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will have its premiere on December 13th, both in luscious 3D and more comfortable 2D, in unpredictable 48 FPS and sober 24 FPS. See the poster below.
