Updated With High Quality Version: Epic SNOWPIERCER Trailer Finally Rolls In
Editor's update: When the trailer was first released, much of the dialogue was indecipherable due to the sound mix and compression. It was also a Korean domestic trailer without English subtitles. We have added an updated version of the trailer below (provided by CJ Entertainment), which clarifies most of the dialogue but shows that some of the problems may be endemic - especially Tilda Swinton speaking with false teeth. Can anyone make out what she's saying? Let's hope it's clearer in the final film.

Writer's update: Due to her Yorkshire accent and the throbbing soundtrack, it's true that it's a little hard to understand Tilda's dialogue. But fear not! We've gone ahead and deciphered it for you:

1. Passengers! As in the beginning, I, belong to the front. You, belong to the tail. Keep your place.
2. You people, who were it not for the benevolent Wilford, would have frozen solid 18 years ago today.
3. The engine is sacred, and Wilford is divine! Wilford is merciful.

Just this morning, the Korean distributor CJ Entertainment announced that their long-awaited sci-fi blockbuster Snowpiercer would be hitting screens on August 1st in Korea. Just a few hours later and we finally get what we've been dying to see: our first real glimpse of the film in what looks to be the film's main trailer.

Expanding on the grimy environs and bedraggled passengers of the futuristic trains' back wagons that we've already seen, this trailer gives us a lot more of Bong Joon-ho's post-apocalyptic extravaganza. Director Bong previously mentioned in interviews that the various sets built for each of the train's sections were uniquely and intricately designed, and we can see what he meant here. Impressive CGI images also show us the exteriors of the train and the precarious icy terrain it rides through.

We also see most of the main characters in action. Chris Evans is in hero mode but it's Tilda Swinton who stands out the most as the oppressive second-in-command, warning the lower-class citizens of the train to stay in line.

Korea will get the film first on August 1st, and while we don't have any additional information on international dates, we've previously been told that most major territories will get the film at some point during the same month.

After waiting so long for some footage, this trailer does not disappoint and the 50 remaining days until its international debut can't roll by soon enough. Check it out now!

More about Snow Piercer

I hope it lives up to the high expectations and I hope we get it Stateside sooner than later.

Shelagh M. Rowan-LeggJune 12, 2013 10:51 AM

This interests me far more than any of the run-of-the-mill superhero films and pseudo-sci fi hollywood crap that seem to be dominanting the summer

mmvmJune 12, 2013 11:20 AM

Anyone else really having trouble hearing what anyone's saying?

DArgentoJune 12, 2013 11:21 AM

Elysium? Is that you on that train?

MartenJune 12, 2013 11:25 AM

What?! You mean you're not anticipating White House Down with bated breath just so you can see the hunky Channing Tatum on the big screen?

Simon de BruynJune 12, 2013 11:30 AM

Yeah the sound is fuzzy

Monsiuer HulotJune 12, 2013 11:55 AM

I was able to understand all of 2-3 lines of dialogue spoken....barely.

Anything Tilda Swinton said/yelled sounded like Charlie Brown's parents.

MichaelJune 12, 2013 12:04 PM

Anyone mind translating that to English for me?

Joe FalionJune 12, 2013 12:25 PM

Good lord the quality of that is atrocious. I'll just continue waiting for an HD International trailer instead of spoiling my first glimpse with that hot mess.

Al YoungJune 12, 2013 12:49 PM

Snowpiercer deserves to be seen at the best video quality. The HD
trailer is available via Naver but there is no embedded video code:

Joe FalionJune 12, 2013 1:38 PM

Thank you good sir. Unfortunately only 540p, but that still beats the 360p.

arturoJune 12, 2013 1:49 PM

The sound on that trailer was bad, i expect better from Twitch, however i'm sure they will get that sorted very soon...

Todd BrownJune 12, 2013 4:53 PM

It may come as a surprise that we don't actually make the trailers.

arturoJune 12, 2013 5:27 PM

Ok i just checked other sites and there is a slight problem with the trailer sound...I retract the comment about "i expect better from Twitch" i jumped the gun there...Who do i complain to? lol

mercyJune 13, 2013 3:57 PM

Major letdown. Mediocre photography and questionable directing.

BadGuyZeroJune 15, 2013 6:20 PM

I think she said "If you don't eat your meat you can't have any pudding." Everything else sounded like Bane on helium.

Joe FalionJune 15, 2013 6:51 PM

The engine is sacred, and Wilfred is devine... Wilfred is merciful. Wilfred, Wilfred, Wilfred (but you gotta say it like Jan Brady) Could these all be pot shots at the N.K. mindset of pure obedience.

Simon de BruynJune 15, 2013 8:45 PM

I love this.

Simon de BruynJune 15, 2013 8:47 PM

Maybe it's a pot shot at Northern English diction?

Himanshu VoraJune 15, 2013 10:04 PM

Looks great! Waiting!

you must get invited to a lot of parties.

kidding, kidding -- I don't know what a party is

[A]June 15, 2013 11:35 PM

Now we're talking!

MartenJune 16, 2013 1:12 PM

OK....so I watched it again in HD with audible sound this time around. I gotta admit....I'm a bit apprehensive now. First, the dialog seems rather stilted; Second, and I've expressed this reservation before, Chris Evans and Jamie Bell look way too metrosexual for their role. Both solid actors but might be poorly casted. Keeping my fingers crossed that the final product proves me wrong.

cool thanks for the review of the film u haven't seen yet
