THALE Director Brings Another Forest Creature To Life With Animated MUSHROOM MONSTER
It was back in October of 2011 while we awaited the premiere of Norwegian indie Thale that we first caught wind of an upcoming animated feature from director Aleksander Nordaas. Like Thale, Morkel The Moss Monster would present a revisionist spin on traditional nordic folktale creatures. But unlike Thale this one would be a family friendly animated feature.

The success of Thale has led Nordaas all around the world in the time since but today we are happy to present the teaser for Mushroom Monster - an animated short created as a sort of test pilot for the feature length Morkel.

If you were a little, hairy Mushroom Monster, how far would you go to get your paws on the biggest mushroom ever? "Mushroom Monster" is the pilot short film to our upcoming feature film "Morkel The Moss Monster", about Morkel who's on the hunt for the monster mushroom. And in "Mushroom Monster", the mushroom is just as essential. So - in case you missed it - it's pretty much all about mushrooms. The right kind, that is.

Want to see what strange creatures live in the forests of Nordaas' imagination? Check out the teaser below.

I think he's being too similar to Scrat in Ice Age.

Not actually based on an old folk tale, but a children's book from 1981.

I remember it being rather more melancholy than this clip. The look is quite spot on,except Morkel shouldn't have pupils or, y'know, facial expressions. Do a Google image search for Morgentåkedalen .

awfull animation from a mediocre director.

I like the music, I like the drawings, and I don't think the action and the profile of Morkel is what I expected. Did the monster have such man-like hands and feet?
