5th Terracotta Far East Film Festival Brings the Best Asian Cinema to London
Highlights of this year's festival include Hong Kong blockbuster Cold War, starring Aaron Kwon and Tony Leung Ka Fai, Johnnie To's mainland thriller Drug War, Korean favourites The Berlin File and A Werewolf Boy, as well as Sono Sion's A Land of Hope representing Japan. There are also a number of excellent independent genre films, including Oh Young-doo's time-travelling detective comedy, Young Gun in the Time and Hajime Ohata's wonderful body horror flick, Henge.
The festival includes a special memorial programme to mark the 10 year anniversaries of Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui's deaths, with screenings of 3 of their most widely acclaimed films, Days of Being Wild, Happy Together and Rouge. There is also a special Indonesian spotlight, highlighting a number of new films from this new hotbed of Asian talent, including Mouly Surya's What They Don't Talk About When They Talk About Love and Edwin's Postcards From The Zoo among others.
But that's just a taste of what the festival has in store. There is also a short film competition, the chance to win a trip to Hong Kong and as yet unannounced guests and masterclasses from notable artists from the region.
