SNOWPIERCER Not Going to Cannes

CJ Entertainment has now confirmed this story and that the global distribution strategy for the film will be decided in mid-May.

Very sad to report that it looks like Bong Joon-ho's highly-anticipated sci-fi Snowpiercer will not be going to the Cannes Film Festival this year after all, contrary to what most, including myself, were expecting.

Twitch has learnt from a reliable source - who got the news from Bong himself earlier today - that the director is still working on post-production and the film will not be ready for next month's festival. While this news comes as a bit of a shock, I'm glad to hear that Bong hasn't been rushing the final product just to hit the festival's deadline. Now the question is, when will it premiere? Since it is slated to hit theaters this summer, that doesn't leave a lot of options in terms of major festivals.

That said, there's still about 24hrs until the full lineup is revealed, and a late addition could theoretically be added to the programme at any point up until 26 May, so nobody can say for certain until then!
