Film4 FrightFest Invites New Filmmakers to TURN OFF YOUR BLOODY PHONE!
Last year's Film4 FrightFest, the UK's biggest genre film festival, caused something of a frenzy with a series of idents produced by a select group of young, upcoming filmmakers. Over the course of the weekend, festival-goers were repeatedly reminded to "Turn Off Your Bloody Phone!" at the risk of being stabbed, bludgeoned, beheaded or...well, just read this piece.

Suffice to say, the project caused such a sensation that FrightFest is doing it again, and this year they are throwing their doors open to budding filmmakers everywhere. Yes, even you! Film4 Frightfest, in association with Ne'er Do Well Films, is inviting you not only to help uphold in-theatre etiquette by reminding audience members of the dangers of using their mobiles at the festival, but at the same time, giving new filmmakers the chance to have their work shown before the 1300-strong FrightFest audience.

The competition launched today and runs until 15th July, and entries will be judged by a prestigious jury that includes writer/director James Moran (Severance, Cockneys Vs. Zombies), renowned author Christopher Fowler, FrightFest organiser Ian Rattray and Ne-er Do Well Films' Evrim Ersoy. The five best entries will screen at FrightFest 2013. For more information on competition rules, visit the FrightFest website right here, and watch the video below.

So don't delay, ladies and gentlemen moviemakers, this is an insanely cool idea and a great opportunity to get some fantastic exposure for your work. As a FrightFest attendee I can attest that it is one of the most welcoming, all-knowing, yet all-embracing horror movie-loving crowds you are ever likely to encounter, and to have anything of yours play in front of them - and at the massive Empire Leicester Square no less - is an opportunity not to be missed. So hop to it, and it could be you screaming "Turn Off Your Bloody Phone!" come the August Bank Holiday weekend!
