FRANK HENENLOTTER Brings BASKET CASE & BRAIN DAMAGE to Chicago March 8 & 9.
Wow! Chi-Town gets it's fair share of fun film events but the weekend of March 8-9 is looking off the hook. On March 8 TERROR IN THE AISLES kicks off with the BASKET CASE TRIPLE FEATURE. Director Frank Henenlotter will be on hand for free picture taking and autographs. Then on March 9 the serious eye glazing gets underway with the SCI-FI SPECTACULAR 7 24 Hour Marathon which will also offer fans the chance to meet the legendary helmer. Details are below.
My primary memory of Basket Case is of one night when my younger brother and I were clicking the remote like mad in the blind hope that there would be something worth watching late one Wednesday night. We stopped on a public access channel. That's right! A public-access-channel! Because whatever was playing looked like it cost all of a buck ninety-eight to make and within a few seconds we were hypnotized. Basket Case just plain shouldn't exist. It's gonzo in a way that shouldn't work at all but it has so much heart and such a weirdly moving relationship between it's two main characters that it not only succeeds but completely makes you forget that one of them can't possible, really, be alive. If you've never seen it....PLEASE come check it out.
