John Abraham Will Kick Your Ass In Extreme Slow Motion In The SHOOTOUT AT WADALA
The first trailer for Sanjay Gupta's highly anticipated cops vs. gangsters flick, Shootout at Wadala has appeared online and it looks pretty fucking stylish. ScreenAnarchy readers might know Gupta from a few of his older films like Kaante or Zinda, but this looks like a significant step up from those films, even though I enjoyed them well enough. This film is a thematic prequel to a film he produced back in 2007 called Shootout at Lokhandwala, which recreated a famous gun battle between gangsters and Mumbai cops. Wadala takes the feud back to the seventies, when India was even more inundated with wicked mustaches than it is today.

While the trailer is stylish enough on its own, it is really the cast of this beast that gives me hope for a positive experience. Leading the charge is Bollywood's number one beefcake, John Abraham, looking ripped as ever, while his supporting cast is nothing to sneeze at. Following just a step behind are Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, 24, 1942: A Love Story, Mr. India), Sonu Sood (Dabangg, Buddah Hoga Tera Baap, Arundhati, Singh is Kinng), Kangana Ranaut (Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Ready, Fashion), and the man who is only second to Nawaz Siddiqui in terms of recent output, Manoj Bajpayee (Gangs of Wasseypur, Chittagong, Chakravyuh, Raajneeti). That's a strong cast for a big budget flick like this.

Gupta hasn't directed anything high profile in a few years, instead working on writing and producing, but this trailer is pretty sweet, I must say. Perhaps it overdoes the slow motion a bit, but hey, everybody loves watching stuff explode in slo-mo, right?

Shootout at Wadala is scheduled to hit theaters this May 1, and I'm pretty psyched to see how it turns out!

I´ve read that Sonu Sood is explicitly credited as Dawood Ibrahim. Isn´t it some kind of taboo in India? RGV didn´t use the actual name in his D-Company films...

Looking forward to it.
Kaante was a nice movie man.

i like the colour saturation too because it does look like a 1970 type of Indian movie.

That's what Wiki and IMDB say, but I don't know for sure. I could ask, though
