Commercials Director Nic Mathieu Attached To Live Action ROBOTECH

The long gestating Warner Bros. Robotech project has its first director attached to the project. I only say it that way because the screenplay has changed hands so many times,  why not simply accept that commercials director Nic Mathieu could be one of many names attached to it by the time cameras start rolling? There is, of course, no safe bet, as the transition from short films and commercials to full fledged features has proven difficult for some (Carl Rinsch anyone?) . 

Warners already has shown it has plenty of faith in the burgeoning filmmaker: He is attached to direct The Wind, a David Keopp-written sci-fi project that the studio picked up in spring 2012 after being dazzled by his impressive presentation. Mathieu also is attached to direct The Story of Your Life, an alien drama being produced by Shawn Levy's 21 Laps.

If Mathieu can get initiated into the studio system on those films and survive, I would be more comfortable with him handling the franchise that meant a lot to me even before Transformers hit television screens. We shall see.
