NYC News Flash! HOUSE Director Obayashi Nobuhiko Makes A Rare Trip To The City
A bit of a news flash for our bi-monthly NYC Happenings here. Our good pal at Subway Cinema, Marc Walkow has clued us in that the legendary Japanese filmmaker (most notably for House) Obayashi Nobuhiko will be in town this week for several film screenings and in-the-works screenings. This is partially coinciding with MoMA's Japanese New Wave series which we just posted about this, where OB has several films playing this weekend, but also in relation to a screening of Obayahsi's early short films at Anthology Film Archives this Sunday, December 9th. Obayashi will be at Anthology for this screening and what is sure to be a lively, in-depth discussion afterwards. Walkow and company are also hard at work getting a screening for House in order. As of today, IFC Center should be presenting a screening of the film at 12:15 midnight on Saturday night, which OB is hoping to attend. As this develops the best place to check for updates will be Marc's blog, linked below, along with Anthology. NYC readers, don't pass this rare opportunity to see a set of exciting films with the filmmaker in attendance -- it'll be a treat!
