BERANDAL (aka THE RAID 2) Announces New Cast, More Ass Kicking
With principal photography on Berandal - the upcoming sequel to The Raid - now just weeks away a handful of new cast members have been announced. We know star Iko Uwais will be back but who will be joining him?

Julie Estelle (Macabre) will take the role of Hammer Girl with other parts going to Merantau baddie Alex Abbad, The Forbidden Door star Marsha Timothy, and local stars Mathias Muchus and Tio Pakusadewo. And here's one for those who are more concerned with who will be punching who than they are with who will be delivering the lines: Internationally renowned silat practitioner Cecep Arif Rahman has also signed on for a major part.

Writer-director Gareth Evans actually tweeted the Rahman news a while back, incredibly excited to have landed such a high profile martial arts expert, Rahman having traveled the world extensively to demonstrate his art in international competition. Is this the new Mad Dog? Check out the demonstration video below - someone is getting their wish, based on the video title - for a sample of what Rahman can do.

Sales guy promised to send me a copy ages ago but never did.

This Rahman guy looks impressive. I'm also hearing that Yayan's returning, which is a relief. I wanna hear about the Japanese actors Gareth said he was bringing in.

Cecep Arif Rachman is one of silat master in java. He is well known internationally in silat community. I hope that he could perform good. I know that he is better than Iko. He can speak English.

Yayan is returning, yes, though Mad Dog is not. And I'm just waiting for the gag to be lifted on the Japanese names ... they're goooood.

That looks pretty sweet, but does ANYONE use steadicams anymore in action films with less than a $100 million budget?!?!? I'm tired of the nauseating shaking in modern actions sequences these days.

I'm hoping that the last of the machetes gang - Godfred (the machete gang's leader in the pic above - which shown still alive after that crazy fall) and Topan (the one with reggae's hair who was slammed to the wall) - are return in Berandal to finish their final fight. This time they upgade their machete to double machetes (or any weapon which not easily disarmed by Rama) and fight Rama in 'hit n run' mode since they aware they couldn't beat him frontally. So whenever Rama in a winning situation, one or both of them appear to bring hell to him.

Can't wait for the next one. Great demo. Sometimes Silat resembles Kung Fu, sometimes Karate, sometimes its own thing...very interesting to watch.
