With the American Film Market opening today in LA, news of fresh deals and projects are coming to light up our gloomy autumn weekend. The first big 'un being that The Gray director Joe Carnahan will be taking the reins on low-budget actioner Stretch, which has Patrick Wilson attached to star. And no, this has nothing to do with the toy, thank god.
The folks at IM Global, who had a stake in the recent Dredd 3D and Richard Linklater's upcoming Before Midnight, will produce along with Blumehouse productions (Paranormal Activity franchise).
While no further details on story and release are available at this time, Carnahan and Wilson teaming up feels mighty solid. As a director Carnahan has only gained favor within the industry and with adult audiences thanks to somber thriller The Gray, and though Wilson keeps a relatively low profile with projects, sticking mainly to supporting roles, he most certainly has the hutzpah for a leading action man type.
