Images Of The Apocalypse From Cuba's LOS DESASTRES DE LA GUERRA
The words 'Cuba' and 'science fiction' are, admittedly, not ones that seem like the most obvious of friends. Throw a bit of 'Kurosawa-inspired'and it seems even more unlikely. And yet that is exactly what we have in Tomas Piard's latest effort Los Desastres De La Guerra. While plot specifics are difficult to come by the picture is clearly a post apocalyptic work, one which Piard describes as influenced by Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, though Goya's famous painting is an obvious touchstone as well.
