Streets Behind. Season 4 Of COMMUNITY Delayed
Along with Whitney, NBC has decided to hold Community until they have a better sense of how their new half-hour shows are performing. Or that's how they put it. Considering this is NBC, the lowest rated network quite a number of years in a row, this could mean little, or it could mean a lot. While indeed frustrating for us viewers, this is not all that surprising, and may in fact be a blessing in disguise as it seems likely that when Community does return it won't be on Friday, which has been widely known for years as "the night where shows live to die". Though again, with an entire network in the toilet perhaps Fridays aren't as grim as they would be elsewhere on TV. Oh, wait, they are! since the one show they currently air on Fridays is Grimm. Sorry for the terrible joke. Guess I've been wallowing in Pierce territory a bit too much. Here is what NBC has to say on the matter:
Given the success we've had for the past four weeks - including winning the first week of the season in A18-49 - we've decided to continue to concentrate our promotional strength on our new NBC shows that are scheduled Monday through Wednesday and have therefore decided to hold COMMUNITY and WHITNEY from their previously announced premieres of October 19th. Without having to launch these comedies on Friday at this time, we can keep our promotion focused on earlier in the week -- plus we will have both comedies in our back pocket if we need to make any schedule changes on those nights. When we have a better idea of viewing patterns in the next few weeks, we will announce new season premieres of WHITNEY and COMMUNITY.
