First Artwork For Stephen Chow Produced A CHINESE ODYSSEY
News updates on the upcoming fantasy comedy A Chinese Odyssey, produced by Stephen Chow and directed by Derek Kwok (Gallants), have been kept tightly under wraps since the project was first announced back in July of last year. If you're just as hungry as I am for any bone that they can throw at us, though, here is a little something to whet your appetite.

It's the first promo poster featuring concept art of the Monkey King. Beside Chow playing the main role of the Monkey King, the cast will also include Shu Qi, Bo Huang, Zhang Wen, Show Luo and Chrissie Chow.

The film is currently in post-production and its expected to be released in 2013 during the New Year.

I know Stephen Chow is very big (and Shu Qi too) in the far east, but isn't there a risk of this production getting crushed by the considerably more star-studded THE MONKEY KING ?

more star studded? Stephen chow is probably THE biggest movie star in HK just look at the box of office of... well all his films since 91! plus add in Huang bo zhang wen and shu qi you have all the mainland.... and then show luo? all the girls will be lining up to see this

i'd say its a about equal on stars, only internationally does the Monkey King look considerably more star studded

I guess you're right, though the combination of Donnie Yen, Chow Yun Fat, Kelly Chen and Aaron Kwok is pretty ironclad one. If it is accessible enough to western audiences, I can even se THE MONKEY KING getting a big release in the US, a la Hero.

Two Monkey King films in one year. Going to be incredible I hope.
