Tom Sawyer & Huck Finn To Start Steampunk Detective Agency
It must be said: every time I read Mark Twain's famous novels that recount the adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, I immediately wonder what it would be like if these two reckless spirits were to reunite in a steampunk version of New Orleans and start a detective agency together. Now we'll know, with US television network ABC announcing this very thing will become a TV series.

Avid Twain fans already know that Tom Sawyer became an enterprising detective in the self-evident novel Tom Sawyer, Detective. Indeed, this was also made into a movie, albeit in 1938. Clearly the boffins at ABC believe what was good enough for 1938 is good enough for us - even so far as to make the setting more like 1938, or indeed, 1838.

Behind the project are Jason Richman and David Zabel, who created police drama Detroit 1-8-7. Additionally Zabel was one of the producers behind ER, while Richman wrote Bangkok Dangerous. Let's just hope Nicolas Cage shows up as a crazed villain who murders people using his dangerous new type of power -- electro-ism!
