Sikhs Aplenty In The First Trailer For SON OF SARDAAR With Ajay Devgn
I don't even know where to begin with Son of Sardaar. The film is the Hindi language remake of SS Rajamouli's Maryada Ramanna, itself a remake of Buster Keaton's classic silent, Our Hospitality. This marks the second Rajamouli remake in Bollywood this year after Akshay Kumar's recent Rowdy Rathore took on Vikramarkudu. The trailer looks pretty insane, and in a good way, but I've been fooled before, so I remain cautiously optimistic.

This film is the latest project from Ajay Devgn and crew, and while his may be the hottest name in the credits, Son of Sardaar is absolutely packed with stars making strong runs at the Bollywood box office crown for 2012. Appearing as Devgn's love interest is Sonakshi Sinha, from the aforementioned Rowdy Rathore and the upcoming Joker, both with Akshay Kumar. Playing the villain we have the baddest man in Bollywood in 2012, Sanjay Dutt, coming off of a spectacularly evil performance in Agneepath with Hrithik Roshan. Also making an appearance, presumably as Sanjay's wife, is 90's Bollywood queen, Juhi Chawla, who really deserves more work, and who I really love.

This first trailer of Son of Sardaar appears to be cashing in on the recent old-school masala trend happening in India, a trend which has benefited Devgn greatly in the last couple of years. It looks very similar to things like Singham from last year and even Rowdy Rathore, however, both of those films ended up being marginal disappointments, so I'm hedging my bets. I'll be damned if Bollywood editors don't know how to cut a mighty fine trailer, though.  Check out Son of Sardaar, opening worldwide this Diwali.
