DREDD 3D Clip Is A Thing Of Gruesome Beauty
After word got out about Dredd 3D's apparent awesomeness I've been dying to see this film which I had no particular interest in or any hopes for.

The trailer looked good and all but this clip released today showcases Pete Travis's gorgeous use of ultra slow motion, tied in to the film's depiction of the new drug Slo mo.

Just take a look at this thing. I recommend full screen in full HD.

It's not for the squeamish though.

Interesting. After this clip, and the Punisher short DIRTY LAUNDRY also currently getting comments in the news feed, I seem to sense a reversal in the usual reaction to computer animated violence effects (such as blood and bullet wounds, traditionally handled via the make-up department). Used to, everyone got immediately mad when they sensed CGI was covering this sort of thing. If things have changed, then I am, yet again, dreadfully behind the times. I thought the clip above was very cartoony. Like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeoW2Jptu0g
