PIFAN 2012 Full Line-Up Announced!
The 16th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan) has just released its full line-up, and it comes as no surprise to see that it is to be another fun-packed year of thrilling entertainment and some of the world's very best genre cinema, when the festival opens its doors on 19 July for the 11-day event.

Opening the festival is Horror Stories, an anthology of four chilling vignettes from South Korean filmmakers: JUNG Bum Shik, IM Dae Woong, HONG Ji Young, KIM Gok, KIM Sun and MIN Gyu Dong. The stories aim to broach some of Korea's most pressing social issues, from labor force issues to capitalism, while delivering more traditional shocks with a roster of zombies, serial killers and other genre favourites.

Closing out the festival is arguably one of the year's most hotly-anticipated titles, Miike Takashi's bizarro high school musical, For Love's Sake, starring TSUMABUKI Satoshi and TAKEI Emi as tragic lovers caught up in a web of girl gangs and yakuza battles, based on the comic book series of the same name.

The full festival line-up has now been published on PiFan's official website, where you can browse the programme of more than 200 films. Over the next few weeks, Pierce Conran and I will be going through each section in detail - from Puchon Choice and World Fantastic Cinema, to Strange Homage and Forbidden Zone, as well as special programmes and retrospectives on, among others, Nicolas Winding Refn and Ken Russell! We'll be picking out our recommendations and most-anticipated titles, before we both hit the festival hard next month to bring you breathless coverage of the entire event!
