Sororal, the first Australian film to pay homage to giallo, is now close to completion; and the team at Nakatomi Pictures has chosen to launch its first teaser exclusively here at ScreenAnarchy.
Synopsis: A heady whirlwind of genetic experimentation, mind control, telekinetic power struggles and twisted art revolve around Sororal's heroine, Cassie (Amanda Woodhams), a troubled artist who tries to make sense of her vivid, violent dreams by committing her visions to canvas.
"The bold colour palette and wild visual style was certainly inspired by the giallo films of Bava and Argento," says director Sam Barrett, "but the film is also a celebration of many of the things that I love in the cinema of the 60s, 70s and 80s. It's like a beautiful, kaleidoscopic car crash involving DePalma, Cronenberg, The Exorcist Part II, Starman, Altered States, Douglas Sirk, and Tangerine Dream...and it's all seen through the Eyes of Laura Mars. Definitely my kind of date movie."
Sororal is the third independent feature from the creative team at Nakatomi Pictures, whose previous features include the 2009 bloody revenge thriller No Through Road and 2012 neo-noir thriller Esoterica.
