Blood, Breasts And Elijah Wood In Full Trailer For MANIAC
Elijah's got a knife and he's not afraid to use it.

The Franck Khalfoun directed remake of Bill Lustig's cult hit Maniac promises to put a bloody end to things in Cannes and horror fans are itching for any indication as to whether the Alexandre Aja produced picture can live up to the legacy of the original. An early teaser leaked briefly online before being removed and now that has been followed by a longer full trailer.

Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt.

Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank's obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.

A 21st century Jack the Ripper set in present-day LA, MANIAC is a re-boot of the cult film considered by many to be the most suspenseful slasher movie ever made - an intimate, visually daring, psychologically complex and profoundly horrific trip into the downward spiralling nightmare of a killer and his victims.

What say you? Are you prepared to accept Elijah Wood in this sort of role? Check out the trailer below.

I usually despise remakes, especially ones that involve some my favorite movies, and Maniac is a masterpiece of B movie, 80's horror. The one remake I did like form this era is The Hills Have Eyes by Aja, and Elijah Wood as Frank Zito is really unique casting. Count me in.

Should have got Dario to do this instead of Dracula 3D...

Meh. This looks way to clean and crisp... or over produced. Whatever you want to call it. That and the score sounds like horrid elfman esq Hollywood crap.Half the creepiness of the original was due to the Jay Chattaway score. Some movies should not be remade and this is one of them. There's no way that they could top the original. It's simply a gimmick to get peoples money solely out of title recognition. I'll wait till I can rip it off online for sure.

Appreciated the fact that they credited the original in the trailer.
