Bloody Trailer For 2nd Animated Film BERSERK
The animated film adaptation of Kentaro Miura's ultra-violent Berserk saga from Studio 4C continues on into Berserk Golden Age Arc II: The Battle for Doldrey (Berserk Ōgon Jidai-Hen III: Kōrin, ベルセルク 黄金時代篇Ⅱ ドルドレイ攻略). In the second installment, the story focus on the Band of Hawks waging an epic battle to reclaim the Doldrey Castle from the Chuder Empire, bringing Griffith even closer in achieving his dream ambition. We also get to see how Guts earned the "100 Man Killer" moniker in a bloody one-man vs an army fight. Most importantly, this is the turning point where the story begins to take a dark descent into horror territory with the fall of Griffith after Guts leaves the Hawks.

The theatrical release date in Japan is on June 23th.  You'll find the trailer embedded below.

Noooooo! They are still only at this part of the story? When we get to the third movie will we even be past the anime series? I just don't understand why they are doing all this over again.

BERSERK rebuild, basically.

Any word on how well the first film did at the Japanese box office?

I'm going to watch these films when they get an English subtitled BD release but I just can't get all that excited about a CG remake of the TV series. What I could get excited about would be another 3 theatrical movies that cover new ground - of which there is plenty!

The first film made $1,348,352 at the Japanese box office, at least according to box office mojo.

Well, honestly I would prefer new content but to see a rebuild so beautifully done is nice. What I am surprised about (I've been able to hold off watching these new movies until maybe a US release) is that story elements that are in the manga do not seem to be here. If there's any 'future flashes', episode 1 in the anime, characters like Puck must be involved. It's quite possible this is a closer version of the golden age arc (even though the anime did a good job of that arc). Just being able to see the 'Hundred man massacre' is enough for me :o) More Zodd is always good too.

The MOST exciting part of all this: Berserk is getting attention and new fans which to me = possibly new anime of what happens AFTER the eclipse.

I'm only around book 35 of the US manga and I am a HUGE Fan and LOVE all that is GUTS :o)
