The Sleeper has Awakened: New EXTRATERRESTRIAL Trailer
We here at ScreenAnarchy are big fans of director & screenwriter Nacho Vigalondo. And there's a lot to be a fan of, from his plethora of short films (including the deliciously surreal 7:35 in the Morning, which was nominated for Best Short at the Oscars in 2003,) to his feature film debut Timecrimes, to the breathless anticipation of his screen adaptation of Mark Millar's graphic novel Supercrooks. (And you haven't truly experienced karaoke until you've seen it done by this guy.) Vigalondo's second feature Extraterrestrial is a brilliant mash-up of a comedy of manners and an alien invasion. Here's a synopsis:

There's only one sane response when you wake up to a sky full of alien invaders - run like hell. But what do you do if the invasion starts when you've just met the girl of your dreams?

Julio wakes up - horribly hungover and with no memory of the night before - next to a mind-blowingly sexy girl, in a stunning apartment. She wants him out now but the alien invasion that's just begun outside is the perfect excuse for Julio to stay.

And even though things are growing worse by the minute, even though the girl's boyfriend has arrived on the scene, even though the alien threat is getting more and more terrifying, Julio's clear about one thing. Just like the monstrous creatures that have traveled across galaxies to destroy Mankind, he's here to stay.

The film screened at numerous festivals last fall, including TIFF and Fantastic Fest, and will be making its Spanish debut in March. This film has been picked up by Focus Features for distribution in the US, though as yet no word on a release date. But between this new trailer and the brand-spanking-new poster filled with praise, no doubt it won't be long before it is unleashed at a theatre near you.
