F#@K. And YES. THE RAID U.S. Trailer.
The U.S. trailer for Gareth Huw Evans' gift to the world, THE RAID, is here! 2:03 of ass kicking bliss awaits you. To hell with that! Its not waiting...

Its busting down your door, zip tying your ankles and wrists together, slamming you down in front of your computer and holding a gun to your head, demanding that you watch this trailer.

I wish we had an article category for 'AWESOME' because this so deserves it. And I am sure at some point today Todd will put on his Executive Producer hat and explain what the 'Redemption' part is...

More about The Raid

Probably just because marketing departments seem to have a hardon for the words: Reckoning, Redemption, Revelations, Revengeance (Not a word, but see the new Metal Gear Game), and Reloaded for the 16-28 male demographic.

Sony better give this movie a decent nationwide release.

Tom StoneFebruary 23, 2012 3:42 PM

I so wanna learn how to say "And please... enjoy yourselves" in Indo.

2BitFebruary 23, 2012 4:21 PM

I live down the block from a great Indonesian cafe/restaurant. I plan on having an awesome dinner & some drinks there right before going to get my face punched in by this film!

It's about setting up the titles for the trilogy, actually. The Indonesian sequel will be going into pre-production in the fall and there's just no obvious link between the actual titles when you translate them. The Raid isn't even a particularly accurate translation of the Indonesian title, which - according to Google translate - is actually DEATH INVASION. Which is pretty fucking awesome.

Todd BrownFebruary 23, 2012 6:13 PM

It's rolling out in stages, with 50 markets - I believe - currently scheduled. Beyond that will depend on performance.

MartenFebruary 23, 2012 7:44 PM

Thanks Todd....hopefully the list of cities/theaters will be available sooner than later so I can plan ahead and coerce a few people into seeing it.

J HurtadoFebruary 23, 2012 8:44 PM

Though I'm not a fan of the new title, I TOTALLY want to see Death Invasion.

Andrew MackFebruary 23, 2012 9:19 PM

I second that.

MichaelFebruary 24, 2012 2:52 AM

"Deadly Attack" would be a more accurate translation

MichaelFebruary 24, 2012 2:54 AM

"dan silakan... selamat menikmati"

Tom StoneFebruary 24, 2012 3:38 AM

So the bit in the trailer that's at that part isn't synced up, or is translated differently?

Ard VijnFebruary 24, 2012 7:07 AM

I'm not against setting up a trilogy, but shouldn't you wait for the other installments? STAR WARS wasn't released as EPISODE FOUR or even A NEW HOPE, that only started after the next film arrived.

And REDEMPTION doesn't sound like a beginning to be honest, more like a part 4 or 5. Shouldn't you first establish a recognizable brand before making people wonder if they have seen part 1 or not?

Glasgow Frightfest tomorrow....oooooh yes.

The exact word that Tama (Ray Sahetapy) said in the trailer is "dan jangan lupa...bersenang-senang" which literally translated to English as "and don't forget...have fun".

This off course depends on the situations. If you want to say "and please...enjoy yourself" to someone who is going to have a nice meal then you can say "dan silakan... selamat menikmati" as what Michael Lee suggested above. But in the situation where Tama said that to his army through PA then it more fits to use "dan jangan lupa...bersenang-senang"

That one shot where the guy is being thrown of the balcony, HOLY SHIT!!!! It looks like something out of a Ridley Scott Film, very reminiscence of Alien...

No, the original Indonesian title for The Raid is "Serbuan Maut".

Attack translated to Indonesian as "Serangan", not "Serbuan". Invasion is more suitable for "Serbuan".

While "Maut" eventhough it is used more as adjective in this case, but it's actually a noun. So Death is correct in this one, while Deadly is literally translated to Indonesian as "Mematikan", both are adverbs.

For those watching and wondering in Australia, Madman are putting it into over 50 cinemas nationwide.

Tom StoneFebruary 24, 2012 3:13 PM

Thanks! I love the rhythm of "bersenang-senang"
