Sundance 2012: THE RAID - New Clip, New Music, Same Old Broken Bones

Poised to tear up Sundance and leave behind a trail of blood, guts, and broken, crunchy bones, Gareth Evans' The Raid has a new clip, featuring new music by Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park) that appears to fit the action appropriately.

As one of the unfortunates here at ScreenAnarchy who has not seen the film, all I can say is: More, please.

The Raid will be released in the U.S. on March 23. Check out the new clip below, courtesy of MTV. A word of warning: Your heart may explode. Also: apparently only viewers in the U.S. can see the clip. Everyone else, use your imagination.

It was a mistake to watch this before going to bed! Now I'm amped up!

The Choreography is crisp as fuck... Just that clip alone should win fight choreography of the last 2 yrs or so... I might be overdoing it but this is fucking amazing!!!!

Now that's how you make violence work wonders. Truly up there with Donnie Yen's choreography and superior to Thai action films imho.

The YouTube link is a different clip from the MTV embed, actually. YouTube / IGN is what we called Carrying Bowo while it was being worked on - this is the sequence I was on set for last year - and the MTV clip is part of the Machete Gang fight. 20, 2012 11:11 AM

Would you like to upload this part of Machete Gang fight in youtube as well? So we who live outside US could watch it too.

Todd BrownJanuary 20, 2012 11:48 AM

I'm in Canada, myself, so haven't been able to touch the Machete Gang fight myself, either. But I do have a request in with the publicists to get the file and run it in our player here for those outside the US.

So Todd, which version of the film is preferable now with the "new music by Mike Shinoda"? Can you tell us how they differ from each other sound wise?

Actually, we can find the link of this MTV's clip on youtube's url above, Todd. It's "The Raid Machete Gang Fight - Exclusive Scene" uploaded by the same user. and there's another one: "The Raid Room Escape".

Believe it or not I haven't heard the Shinoda score but as far as how it differs from what screened in Toronto, it's a completely new score.

I have talked with Gareth (the director) about it a lot, though, and he's really happy with Mike's work. Says it came out very Carpenter and doesn't feel at all like a guy from a rock band ... it meshes with the visuals very well.
