Full Trailer For Guy Maddin's KEYHOLE
One of the most distinctive filmmakers on the face of the planet, Canada's Guy Maddin unveiled his latest opus at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. A riff on Homer's Odyssey re-imagined as gangster noir you can now indulge yourself with the trailer for Maddin's Keyhole.

A gangster and deadbeat father, Ulysses Pick (Jason Patric), returns home after a long absence. He is toting two teenagers: a drowned girl, Denny, who has mysteriously returned to life; and a bound-and-gagged hostage, who is actually his own teenage son, Manners. Confused Ulysses doesn't recognize his own son, but he feels with increasing conviction he must make an indoor odyssey from the back door of his home all the way up, one room at a time, to the marriage bedroom where his wife Hyacinth (Isabella Rossellini) awaits.

Alas, that this film is a bit of a disaster. All the pieces are there, but nothing ever comes together in a satisfying way, and the CANON-5D cinematography doesn't work too well either.

Very disappointed by the negative response to this film. The trailer looks great and I'm a big Maddin fan.

Surprised to see how digital the material looks. For a guy who made his career using old tech techniques to get the look that he wanted this looks really cheap. There are ways to get proper film look with digital material.
I might even go so far as to say that my own short film has a better film look to it than this and I had no money to do it.
