FAST FIVE Oscar Watch: Best Supporting Actress
(Taking a look at this movie's babeliciousness, with proof in pictures)

Sometimes we are seriously questioning the reasoning behind the actual awarding of the Academy Awards.
Take "Best Supporting Actress". Is the award for the best acting in a smaller part, or for supporting the main actors and the film itself? There is a big distinction between the two.
I could be all sarcastic and call the smaller roles of the actresses in "Fast Five" "brilliant!!!", but in all honesty there isn't much for them to do except look hot. However, their hotness certainly does support the movie they are in and certainly increases its watchability. In fact, the whole "Fast and the Furious" franchise so far has done an excellent job in describing women as having a supporting role. In these films, it's the men who are the heroes and the women who "hold their jackets and bring them their beers" (quoting our very own Sean).
At first I thought "Fast Five" was going to break that streak by including not one, not two, but three women in strong supporting roles. Yes, there are plenty of undressed beauties to be seen in Rio but we also get Dom's sister, who springs Dom from jail, heists a car from a train and does re-con duties during the final safe snatching. We also have the one non-corrupt reliable cop in Rio being a woman, helping both the good cops and the good thieves. One of the best drivers during the final heist is a female ex-Mossad agent. And, finally, during the end credits we even see Eva Mendez and Michele Rodriguez briefly show up as assertive women.

Cool, what? Thing is, all of these women look hot. VERY hot. Suspiciously hot. As in: we allow women in this club, as long as they are hot. On top of that Dom's sister gets sidelined as a pregnant object to protect, the armed policewoman needs to be saved during a firefight by an unarmed Dominic, and the ex-Mossad's agent most important feat is getting her bikinied ass grabbed by the main baddy for fingerprinting purposes.

So, yeah. Supporting...
For showing women in the MOST supporting roles seen this year outside of porn, "Fast Five" should easily and clearly win the Oscar for "Best Supporting Actress".
As proof I will leave you here with a collage of screenshots from "Fast Five", showing exactly how much (and in what way) women have enhanced this film.
Sexist? Perhaps, but then so are the Academy Awards themselves. For why are there separate Oscars for women and men? Why isn't there just an Oscar for "Best Acting" and one for "Best Acting in a Supporting Role"? It's because women apparently have different roles to play according to the Academy. And few films show that better than "Fast Five".
